Net metering and technical rules

  • Net metering is available under this scheme.
  • Net metering policy: JSERC Net Metering Regulations 2016 (amended 2022). 1 kW–500 kW. Single DISCOM: JBVNL (all Jharkhand). Mining areas (Dhanbad, Bokaro): separate BCCL/ECL microgrids in coal fields.
  • Gross metering policy: JSERC gross metering for >500 kW; PPA-based tariff.
  • Hybrid policy: Jharkhand Solar + Coal Mine Reclamation: solar on abandoned coal mines (pilot at Jharia, Dhanbad).
  • DISCOM requirements: JBVNL: Single DISCOM for entire Jharkhand. Mining colonies: BCCL/ECL subsidiary power distribution.
