Net metering and technical rules
- Net metering is available under this scheme.
- Net metering policy: Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Net Metering Regulations 2018 (amended 2021). 1 kW–500 kW. State DISCOM: DoP Nagaland (Nagaland Dept. of Power) handles both transmission and distribution.
- Gross metering policy: NERC gross metering for >500 kW. Very limited utility-scale due to hilly terrain.
- Hybrid policy: Nagaland Solar + BESS: grid unreliability in hills means solar + battery hybrid preferred over pure grid-tied systems.
- DISCOM requirements: DoP Nagaland: State-run power department handling all distribution. Very remote areas in Tuensang, Mon, Longleng districts: off-grid microgrids.
